Is a short documentary I directed and filmed during the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. It offers a quiet portrait of women in Los Angeles, captured in their outdoor spaces—moments of solitude and ritual that reflect what felt meaningful during a time of global stillness and uncertainty.
The concept took shape in the early weeks of quarantine, as the world slowed down and I felt a growing need to document this unique moment in time. I began by creating a mood board with visual references that represented Los Angeles—sunset light, familiar textures, and iconic elements of the city. From there, I wrote a script for a single portrait and filmed a pilot with one woman to find the rhythm and emotional tone of the piece.
As the project evolved, I casted a small group of women to participate—intentionally seeking diversity. I asked each of them to write a personal reflection: something they were feeling, treasuring, or navigating at that moment. I also invited them to share a daily ritual that had taken on new significance—sunbathing a cactus, dancing on a rooftop, sipping coffee beside their plants, reading on a balcony. These quiet gestures became the emotional heart of each vignette.
Visually, I leaned into a textured, highly saturated color palette to mirror the warmth and brightness of the LA landscape. The sound design was centered around each woman’s voice, layered with subtle ambient sounds—birds, wind, the hush of a city on pause—to evoke the distinct quiet of lockdown. I also shot a series of film portraits, adding a layer of softness and nostalgia that was used for social media and film festival promotion.
This piece now lives in my portfolio as an expression of my creative direction and filmmaking process—from initial concept and casting to visual storytelling and sound. It’s a reflection of how I work with real people to create something honest, poetic, and grounded in time.
